MARCH 25TH-- INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE REMEMBRANCE OF THE VICTIMS OF SLAVERY AND TRANS ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE

PRISONERS OF OURSELVES

I wonder how much a human beign would cost now. Just imagine you're asked to sell yourself, how much will be on your pricetag? I'm sure nothing Less than a couple of Zillion dollars. Nobody wants to be cheap

But some centuries ago, a human beign could be bought for around the same amount of money you used in buying bread this morning--Maybe even less. Slave trade is one of the darkest periods of human history. When there was no value for a soul, infact back then some domestic animals were treated better than slaves.

It went on for about 400 years. They were beaten, raped, violated in every form you can think of. Most of them were even killed for no reason. They were made to work like robots--under sun, snow, and rain. More than 15million men, women, and children died. You can trace this to the bible too; Remember the Children of israel in Egypt? And how moses had to rescue them? Yup! Thats slave trade

But a lot had happened since then; there has been apartheid, bloody revolutions, arab uprisings and there's a significant rise in the awareness of Human rights. These days no matter your gender, age,or race, you've got a couple of fundamental human rights. But do you think we are really free?

Nobody can buy you right now, but dont you think most of the world is 'Sold out'? I see the drunk driver--slave to the big green bottle--who had an accident and broke his two legs, and i see the drug addict beating up his wife till he kills her and beign charged to court for Murder.even the Football hooligan who ends up fighting others. . .why? Because his team lost. There are many emotional slaves everywhere.

Are we really free? Consider the way we make Policies that allow everyone to carry a gun,and when a mentally disturbed person shoots some innocent kids with the free gun we begin to cry. . .we burn bushes, waste energy, block drainages and when the sun begins to melt our skin, and the floods begin to drown our houses,we complain. . . Are we really free? Let us examine our ways, there might be no chains on our wrists and ankles. But are we not just prisoners of ourselves?
