In September 2014, Carol Todd, mother of late Amanda Todd, wrote a guest post for World Suicide Prevention Day. In that post, which was edited by Mary Ajayi, Carol said, "It is time to continue talking more openly about mental health and suicide. It will not go away on its own...."
#PurpleStories is a product of that advice.
#PurpleStories, is an artistic event organised by Write Paragraphs - a volunteer UN observance community leveraging on the internet and social media to connect writers to writing opportunities and advocacy projects within and outside Africa.
Purple Stories, holding on SATURDAY, 10 OCTOBER 2015, at SRC Chamber, Students Union Building, University of Ibadan, will feature artists from these artistic fields;
* Music
* Spokenword poetry
* Drama
* Painting
* Short Fiction Writing
Award-winning artists like Chijioke Amu Nnadi (Winner, 2013 ANA Poetry Prize), Adeola Opeyemi (Finalist, 2015 Writivism Short Story Prize) Ibukun Adeeko (Winner, Babishai Niwe Poetry Prize 2015), Gbenga Adesina (2015 Resident Poet, Open Society for West Africa Foundation), Bolu Onasanya (Author, Red Eye), etc.
The event is being organized with support from Amanda Todd Legacy Society, Global Shapers Community Ibadan, and Model United Nations Volunteers (MUV-VoN).
