Hymen Whispers
(in protection of the Nigerian girl child)
Inverted legislation abound.
The roles you play draw tears
From our tender parts.
Only if our hymens were clamps,
You would be a humane Senator
Only if our tender nipples were bullets
You would consider anti-looting laws.
Only if our unformed hips possessed an armour
You would guard your ‘lawless’ manhood
Only if our growing breasts were grenades,
You would not denigrate our innocence
Only if our virginity had a ‘boko-haramic’ mind-set
You would not trample on our security concerns
Listen to the whispers of our hymens;
A stern call to decorum.
If ignored, an army of hymens will take arms
Against your selfish will.
