whats your definition of happiness? A shiny new car?? A new Blackberry phone?? Or maybe a big bowl of rice with grilled chicken sitting on top. Humanity is on a constant search for happiness. We all want to be happy, thats why we try to squeeze all the money in the World Bank into our account, marry the most beautiful girl/guy we can see, or even switch teams to support the winning football team. All because of one thing; happiness.
Somehow, somehow. . .some of us win this 'race to happiness'. That lucky guy on the our street buys the Latest range rover, we hear of a cousin that gets a new job with an oil company, and our football team wins the Champions League. We celebrate, we dance and sing. We buy drinks and drown ourselves in the Joy. And this joy lasts for a week, or a month, sometimes even for years.
Then Tragedy strikes!! That new range rover is involved in an accident and its smashed beyound recognition, the iphone5 gets missing in a bus, and the same team that won the champions league gets eliminated in the group stage the next season. Even the celebrities we envy--with all their 'bling blings' and fancy life--end up committing suicide.
So the question is can we really be happy?? When the United Nations met in July 2012; they discovered that too much efforts has been put into economic growth--which has now become a rat race-- when in the end, all we want is to be happy. So they assigned today to be the first International day of Happiness, and it'd be celebrated annualy like other days in the International Observance.
Its not a coincidence that they picked today; March 20--the equinox--that has an equal day an night. Its supposed to signify peace and equality. The UN hopes everybody all around the world will find a reason to smile despite the suicide bombings, Global economic Crisis, and Global cooking[warming] that is roasting us all.
The best way to be happy is to make someone happy. Your life will have more meaning when you discover your purpose,talents,and uniqueness. Decide to be a 'happy Hero' today; save the day by putting a smile on someone's face. . .also, i've got a friend, that has always given me joy everlasting. His name is Jesus Christ, do you know him?
